Today, my youngest 2 sons and I tried our luck with dying cotton yarn with Kool-Aid. Pretty much all the directions on the web say it won't work with cotton, but we had to give it a try anyway. Plus it kept the boys occupied for an hour or so.
I had picked up several packs of Kool-Aid recently on a trip to store. It was on sale, 7 packs for $1.00. It's usually never that cheap!! I had planned to order some of the Knit Picks Color Your Own Fingering Weight yarn as a Mother's Day gift to myself, but they are sold out until the end of June.
I had two balls of ecru Bernat Handicrafter Cotton sitting here, so I thought, what the heck! We'll give it a try.
Here are the results.
Sam used 2 packets of Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade, 2 cups of hot water and an unmeasured amount of white vinegar.
Devin used 2 packets of Pink Lemonade and 1 packet of Cherry, 2 cups of hot water and 1/3 cup of white vinegar.
Since I ended up not being able to order myself the yarn from Knit Picks that I wanted. I decided yesterday that I would buy something else. I was browsing the beautiful colors at Lisa Souza's Knitwear and Dyeworks. I'd been wanting to get her What A Melon colorway for a while now. So, when I noticed that she had a new colorway, Can't Elope, I decided that it was time for me to finally place an order. I ordered one of each in her Sock! line. I'll be anxiously patiently waiting for them to arrive.
In knitting and crocheting news, I'm still working on my first flamingo sock (no progress pic today). I've got about a 1/4 inch more to go on the foot before I start with toe decreases. I also started (on a whim) today a green dishcloth. I've never knit a dishcloth before so decided I should try it. I'm using Grandmother's Favorite Discloth Pattern.
I pulled out a few partial skeins of green yarn, but haven't started on any squares for Heartmade Blessings yet.
I joined the Trek Along with Me knit-a-long today. I've got a few balls of Trekking XXL in my stash, so I'll have to decide which one I'm going to use for this. It officially kicks off on June 1, so I've still got a little time to decide. Here's what I've got in my stash. It's gonna be a tough decision.
