I'm A Joiner

I've joined a few knit alongs recently. First is Miss Violet's Pink Ribbon Along.

I've already started on this one. I'm knitting socks (of course). I have the first sock done and the second one is almost done.

Next is Socktopia.

This is a year long knit along with different themes each month. The themes for January are Celebrate Good Times, Blue Monday, and Snowflakes and Stary Skies. I chose Blue Monday. My first sock is done and I cast on #2 this weekend (almost done the leg).

Then there is Project Spectrum 2.0.

This year is a little different than last. Instead of one color a month, there are 3 colors for every 2 months. My plan is to knit at least one pair of socks for each of the 2 month color schemes. I've got plenty of yarns to choose from. The February/March colors are blue, white, and gray. I haven't decided on my yarn yet, but I have a ball of Opal that would work perfectly.

And last but not least, the Green Socks Knit Along.

This is a very informal knit along. There are no sign-ups, no blog, no start or end dates, just a flickr gallery. Since I'd already planned to knit my son a pair of green socks, I decided to join in on this one.

Socks...the Year in Review

2006 was my first full year of sock knitting. I can easily say I am addicted to knitting socks. I completed 20 pair of socks this year. 17 of those were adult size for me, 2 pair were for my youngest 2 boys and 1 pair was an infant size. The majority of these socks were knit in stockinette, but a few were knit using stitch patterns. Some of the patterns I used this past year were, 2x2 rib, 3x1 rib, Melanie's Twist Stitch, Leaves of Grass, Waffle Rib and Garter Rib (both from Sensational Knitted Socks).

I only have one pair of socks on the needles going into the new year and I just started it today.

I have lots of socks planned for 2007. I plan to start the new year off by making more socks for my kids. I also plan to use more stitch patterns this year. And I will definitely be making Monkey early in the year.
